KENNEDY: POPE'S SERVICE 'WONDERFULLY MOVING'

Charles Kennedy, Leader of the Liberal Democrats, after returning this afternoon from the Vatican, said:

"This was a wonderfully moving service and an occasion that the world will never forget. Clearly the late Pope John Paul the Second - as was obvious from the spontaneous outburst of public affection - was a unique individual with a remarkable capacity to bring people together and inspire them."
