Charles Kennedy, leader of the Liberal Democrats, today offered his congratulations to Simon Hughes MP, after his election to the post of Liberal Democrat Party President.
Mr Kennedy said:
"I am pleased to send my congratulations to Simon on his election to the Presidency of the party. He has been an excellent constituency MP for the last 21 years and I know he will serve the party with the same commitment and enthusiasm as President. I look forward to working with Simon and continuing the progress Liberal Democrats are making in British politics".
"I would also take this opportunity to thank Lord Navnit Dholakia for his tireless efforts as President over the past four years. He has been a fine ambassador for this Party and he has played an invaluable part in the advances that the Liberal Democrats have made in the past four years".
