Following the victory of John Kerry in the 'Super Tuesday' vote for Democratic presidential nomination, Charles Kennedy, leader of the Liberal Democrats, said:
"I congratulate John Kerry in advance of his nomination as the Democrats' presidential candidate. It will chime very strongly with much of mainstream political opinion in Britain which has found President Bush unsympathetic, particularly on the issue of the war in Iraq."
