CAS has received over 900 responses to their survey on delivery charges. 84% of respondents have been refused delivery of items ordered online because of their remote location, and many had seen delivery prices skyrocket from the “free” delivery advertised.
Charles Kennedy said:
“It’s unfair for Highlanders to pay through the nose for deliveries, particularly when advertising describes items as delivered for free.
“Online shopping has become crucial to Highland life for many people.
“Free delivery should mean free, and retailers which spring hidden charges on rural people should be taken to task.”
