Kennedy urges action on Strome by-pass
2/7/2012
West Highlands MP Charles Kennedy has urged the Scottish Government to bring forward plans to find a permanent solution for the A890 at Strome Ferry.
Commenting on the news that Strome Ferry by-pass is to be reopened during the day from the middle of February, local MP Charles Kennedy said:

“I’m glad that this long disruption is reaching an end, but people on the West Coast need a sustainable solution for this lifeline link.

“The Scottish Government needs to set out what it can do to help. People’s jobs and businesses rely on that route, so we must find a way to make it safe and usable all year round.”

Mr Kennedy praised the work of local councillors on the issue:

“The area’s councillors, particularly Biz Campbell, have done sterling work keeping this issue on the national agenda. We must follow through with a long-term solution.”
